Classes We Offer
All of our classes are structured to provide a positive and productive learning environment. We limit most of our classes to 8 or fewer dog/handler teams to provide more individualized training and assistance while reaping the benefits that come with a group setting.

![]() Puppy Classes Puppy classes are for puppies age 8 weeks to less than 6 months.
![]() Nose Work Classes
Nose Work is a search and scenting activity for virtually all dogs and people. This easy to learn activity and sport builds confidence and focus in many dogs, and provides a safe way to keep dogs fit and healthy through mental and physical exercise. The beginning level for Nose Work is our NW101 class, required before advancing into other nose work classes. ![]() Behavioral Classes:
The Reactive Rover class is for dogs that pull, lunge and bark at other dogs. The Nervous Nellie class is for dogs that are lacking in confidence, fearful and uncertain or anxious in situations outside of their normal activities and routines. These dogs typically hide behind their owners rather than barking and lunging forward. They may exhibit behaviors such as cowering, shaking, trying to escape situations, etc. Self Control Basics is a 3 week workshop on teaching attention, wait, leave it, off, and other self control behaviors. This class is a prerequisite for Frantic Fido: Beyond Self Control Basics. Frantic Fido: Beyond Self Control Basics class is for dogs lacking impulse control and the ability to be self-controlled in their behaviors. Behaviors taught include rev up/cool down, teaching an "off switch," coming and going calm behaviors, settle, controlled greetings, body handling & restraint, default sit or down, etc. (We are combining our Click to Calm and Frantic Fido class into this one class.) ![]() Agility Classes - Resuming Soon!
Agility is a popular canine sport in which a handler directs a dog through a variety of obstacles such as a tunnel, teeter-totter, tire jump, weave poles, pause table, and standard jumps. The beginning level for agility is our Agility I level which is a prerequisite for any of the higher agility level classes. ![]() Performance & Competition Classes
These classes are for owners and their dogs that aspire to higher levels of obedience, whether wishing to compete/test in these areas or not. Classes include competition obedience, Rally, dog show handling, and more. Canine Good Citizen, Trick Dog
These classes offer training for American Kennel Club (AKC) Canine Good Citizen and/or Trick Dog titles. Therapy Dog Classes - ( On Hold ) Training to help dog/handler teams become certified as a therapy dog team. (Note - Alaska Dog Sports does not offer Therapy Dog testing/evaluation, only the training to help teams work towards achieving certification from any one of several different therapy dog organizations.) |
